Anybody who hikes, fishes, or camps in bear country has thought about it. Those who live and work where bears live also need to be ready for it. What to do and what not to do during a bear attack.

A bear wandering around Harriman State Park in New York State decided a sleeping Boy Scout looked like a good snack. The boy was unhurt. Check on this video and the scoutmaster’s account of the incident. She notes importance of ”good bear etiquette” and says people leaving garbage around wild places unfortunately attracts animals looking for food.
Where you have urban areas and suburbs butting up against large natural areas, you see larger animals like black bears and occasionally even pumas, certainly lots of coyotes. For example, “Pedals” the bipedal black bear gained fame for his human-like walk in the suburbs of New Jersey.
